Sell when the network is down. Settle when it's back.

Your customers pay the way they already do: a tap from their phone, a QR scan or a bank transfer, with USSD codes coming. When the signal drops, your terminal keeps taking taps within the limits you set, and every sale settles to your bank account once the network returns.

A tap with no signal on either side. Both devices sign it, and it settles when either one reconnects.

Every way your customers pay at the counter.

Cards are coming once our PCI DSS certification completes. Agent cash and mobile money are coming to PediWave; card payments at your own POS are coming with the PediWave POS SDK.

Held taps upload in one signed batch when the device reconnects. Each settles once.

At the stall

Keep selling when the signal goes.

Run the PediWave Offline SDK on a POS terminal, a soft-POS phone or your own app. A customer's phone taps it over NFC or Bluetooth, or the two scan each other's QR codes if your device has a screen and no radio. Your policy (a limit per tap, a cap on what can be held unsettled, a settlement window) is checked on the device before anything is signed. When either phone reconnects, the held taps upload and settle, value-dated at the moment of the sale.

How offline payments work
One payment, three ways to pay it. Whichever the customer uses, the till sees one result.

At the counter

Take every way they pay, on one screen.

Show a dynamic QR for the exact amount, or print one static QR sticker for the stall. Offer a bank account number that exists for this sale only, so a transfer arrives already matched, and a short partial transfer is held until the rest comes in. USSD codes for customers on feature phones are coming. Let a gift or refund voucher pay part of the bill and a transfer pay the rest; cards follow once card acceptance arrives.

  • NQR and PediWave QR, static and dynamic.
  • Transfer to a dynamic account, with rules for under- and overpayment.
  • Vouchers you issue yourself, in full or in part.
See every rail
Every rail settles together. Offline lines carry their terminal, batch and time of sale.

At close

One settlement for the whole day.

Taps, QR and transfers land in one balance. Settlement goes to your verified bank account the next business day by default, or the same day when you ask for an instant payout. Offline sales appear in the settlement report with their terminal, their batch and the time of the sale, so the till count and the bank statement agree.

Questions retailers ask

What happens if my terminal has no signal all day?
It keeps taking taps within your policy: a limit per tap, a cap on what it may hold unsettled, and a limit on taps per hour. The terminal needs to reach the network at least once a day to refresh its signed policy; a stale policy stops acceptance, so nothing is taken outside the rules. Held taps must be uploaded within the settlement window you set, for example seven days.
Do my customers need a special app?
For an offline tap, the customer needs a phone with hardware-backed keys and an offline balance, either in a supported wallet or in a purse your own app issues with the PediWave Offline SDK. Everyone else pays by QR or bank transfer, which need a signal on the customer's side only.
Who carries the loss if a customer double-spends?
You decide in advance. The ledger cannot be overdrawn, so a second spend of the same balance fails at settlement. The loss then falls where your policy says: on you, on PediWave's assurance pool for a per-tap premium, or shared. The payer's device is blocked and a case is opened either way. See Pricing for the assurance premium.
Can I take cards at the counter?
Not yet. Card acceptance is coming once our PCI DSS certification completes, first through hosted Checkout and Payment Links, then on your own POS terminal with the PediWave POS SDK. Until then your customers pay by QR, transfer or an offline tap, with USSD coming too. Cards are never taken offline; offline acceptance is phone-to-terminal only.
When does the money reach my account?
By default, the next business day to your verified bank account, net of fees. You can ask for an instant payout on any day for a fee. An offline tap joins your balance when it settles and is value-dated at the time of the sale.
