SaaS & subscriptions

Recurring revenue that survives month-end.

Charge renewals by direct debit, wallet autodebit and transfer invoices, with USSD and cards coming. Every subscription can carry a backup method, and failed renewals are retried on the days your customers get paid.

The sandbox has test clocks, so you can run a year of renewals, failures and retries in an afternoon.

A renewal declined on the 1st and collected on the 4th from the customer's backup method. Illustrative data.

The rail mix

One subscription, whichever way your customer pays.

Many monthly customers pay with debit cards that are empty in the days before salary arrives, some will not save a card at all, and business customers pay by transfer against an invoice. A PediWave subscription can be charged on a bank mandate or a wallet autodebit, or sent as an invoice the customer pays by transfer. USSD and saved cards follow when they launch.

Highlighted: the rails that carry renewals. Direct debit mandates sit under Transfer. Card renewals and monthly mobile money prompts are Coming.

Each subscription holds a default method and a backup, both with the customer's consent. Illustrative data.

Charge every renewal

Every renewal goes to the method your customer agreed to.

Take consent once: a bank mandate, or a wallet autodebit approved with one PIN. Each cycle PediWave raises the invoice, charges the default method and, if it fails, tries the backup. Upgrades prorate, downgrades wait for the period end, and trials, coupons and pauses are built in. Saving a card with a 3DS check is Coming: not yet available

Smart Dunning decides when to retry, on which rail, through which channel, with what message and when to stop. Coming. Illustrative data.

Recover failed renewals

Failed renewals get retried when the money is there.

An insufficient-funds failure is retried three days later, seven days later and at month end, the window when salaries land. Customers keep access through a grace period and get a link to pay now by transfer. Smart Dunning, which chooses the day, rail and channel for each customer, is Coming: not yet available

How retries work
One invoice, payable by transfer or pay link, with part payments tracked. Illustrative data.

Invoice businesses

Business customers pay by transfer, and every naira is matched.

Switch any subscription to send an invoice instead of charging a method. Each invoice carries its own account number and a pay link, with a USSD code coming; transfers are matched to it automatically, part payments are recorded, and reminders go out when it falls due. Quotes and automatic VAT lines are Coming: not yet available

Questions SaaS teams ask

Can customers pay by transfer each month instead of saving a card?
Yes. Set the subscription to send invoices. Each cycle the customer receives an invoice with its own account number and a pay link (a USSD code follows when USSD launches), due after the number of days you choose. Transfers are matched to the invoice automatically and part payments are recorded until it is paid.
What happens when a customer's card expires or is cancelled?
Card acceptance is Coming. When it arrives, a card that has expired, been reported stolen or been closed will not be retried: if the subscription has a backup method, PediWave charges that instead; if not, the customer receives a link to add a new method and the subscription follows your grace and final-action settings. Automatic card updates from the card networks are Coming too.
How do you decide when to retry?
By the reason the payment failed. Insufficient funds is retried three days later, seven days later and at month end; a temporary refusal after one and four days; an unavailable bank after two hours and one day. You can change the schedule, the grace period and whether a subscription ends up unpaid or cancelled. A renewal whose outcome is unknown is checked with the provider before any retry, so a customer is never charged twice. Smart Dunning, which sets the timing per customer, is Coming.
Do you support direct debit and NIBSS e-mandates?
Direct debit runs on bank mandates the customer authorises with their bank by redirect or OTP, and a mandate return is reported with its reason. NIBSS e-mandates are Coming.
Can we bill for usage and add VAT to invoices?
Metered usage, feature entitlements and automatic tax are Coming. Automatic tax will calculate Nigerian VAT at 7.5 % (other countries' rates follow as they launch), inclusive or exclusive of your prices, and report it for your return; PediWave calculates and reports tax, it does not file it.

Pricing for billing is on the Pricing page.
